How does this program work?

This program is a combination of course instruction and community interaction. Women will become informed on their body's biological workings and fertility. All members of the Kalós Fertility Community will receive access to course materials, community discussions, and chat features.

This program empowers women to be confident in their body's natural cycle through education that is backed by scientific research.

How long will it take to complete the course?

The course is designed to support you as you navigate three full cycles using the FEMM method. New material is introduced every few weeks to build confidence in identifying one's biomarkers, charting, and understanding of fertility. This may take 12-14 (or more) weeks.

You will have instructor support and will continue to have community access for as long as you remain a member.

Can I remain a member after finishing the course?

Yes, the community is designed to support and inspire you along your fertility journey. It is a great place to return with questions concerning your cycle or when you enter a new season of fertility (postpartum, pre-menopausal, changing NFP goals, etc.)

What is Natural Family Planning or NFP?

Natural Family Planning is method of observing the body's signs to achieve or avoid pregnancy. It involves identifying hormonal activity and planning for or avoiding intimacy at specific times, depending on your fertility goals.

Are you a Natural Family Planning instructor?

Yes, I am a certified FEMM fertility educator and instructor of natural family planning.

What is a FEMM certified NFP instructor?

A FEMM certified NFP instructor is a someone who has gone through a teacher training course through FEMM, completed an exam, and has completed practice teaching with several students. This training normally takes about 8 to 12 months to complete, and FEMM teachers also must be recertified every two years.

What is the FEMM family planning method?

FEMM Natural Family Planning uses the very effective sympto-hormonal method of NFP. This means women will check their cervical mucus and use affordable, disposable LH test strips.

What is the effectiveness of natural family planning as birth control?

While birth control is commonly associated with interrupting the body's natural processes to try to control conception, natural family planning works with the biological processes that are naturally occurring and aims to time intimacy to achieve or prevent pregnancy.

FEMM uses the sympto-hormonal method and is about 92%(typical use) to 98% (perfect use) effective for those avoiding pregnancy. Whereas hormonal birth control ("the pill") is about 91% (typical use) to 99% (perfect use) effective.

How does the FEMM fertility method compare others (such as Marquette or Billings)?

FEMM Natural Family Planning uses the very effective sympto-hormonal method of NFP. This means women will check their cervical mucus and use affordable, disposable LH test strips.

While similar to the Marquette method, the LH strips used with the FEMM method are affordable and easily found at stores or online. Additionally, cervical mucus is only assessed when wiping. FEMM does not use internal checks.

Can Catholics use the FEMM method for Natural Family Planning?

Yes, Catholics can use FEMM family planning for their natural family planning needs. It is listed on the USCCB's website as an NFP option.
